Three pages completed!

I think that's called productive.  :)  It feels so good to want to scrap again...and then to actually do it and have layouts that I love!

A quick one about Ava's new favorite word.

From Shimelle's sketch.

And Shimelle's 4x6 challenge this month.

And a status or picture from facebook everyday for 5 weeks.  Love.

I scrapped!

I must confess, I've been in a scrapping funk lately.  I mean, my blog, etsy, and every other aspect of my online identity is "meheartpaper" as in, I love paper.  I love pretty patterns, I love pretty textures, I love cutting it, gluing it, punching it, and putting it together.  But I just haven't been wanting to do any of that for a few months now.  Then I remembered a blog that's been on my Reader for years, but has been buried for a while in unread posts.  (You know, because my reader says I have 1000+ unread posts all the time...)

Well, I love shimelle.  She totally ignited my scrap-fire again.  I can't believe I've made 7 pages.  I've never been one to really follow a sketch, but a few of her's are really easy and honestly, hard not to rip off.  lol.  This reminded me of the days when I wished I were a Garden Girl on Two Peas.  Just typing that and I can't believe I've been scrapping for over 6 years.  That's a long time people!  Maybe I can, maybe I will, when I grow up!  Anywho...here's what I've been up to.

This started it all.  Two pictures, not normally my style, but I went with it.  I made the one on the left first, and had little inspiration to make another.  But I didn't want to be left out!  So I made another layout, same paper, same sketch, easy.  In 20 years I won't care that they look the same.

Then I had some Hipstamatic prints to use up.  Mismatching the lettering has never felt right to me, but I think it looks great when other people do it.  And I'm happy with this.

Again with the two pictures.  Thanks Shimelle!

Simple stats of where  Ava's at, at 22 months.  I want to make a quilt like this, but I'm a scaredy-cat.  So I made a layout like it instead.  :P

This is definitely out of my comfort zone.  And totally ripped off a sketch that I can't find right now...

Loved the fauxlaroid post.  This Hipstamatic print has been on my fridge for a few months without a home.  I love how the fauxlaroid boarder grounds it in the pattern paper.

Channeling my Gramma

When I was little, my Gramma would take me to the mall on Saturday mornings.  We would go for no particular reason, and she'd let me wander where ever I wanted.  We used to go play in the toy store, and watch the fish (there were huge koi ponds at the mall we went to in Hawaii), and she would buy me shoes some times and let me wear them out of the store.  I loved that.

I found out there was an L&L here in Anchorage at the mall, and couldn't wait to go.  (L&L is a popular hawaiian diner with all the local faves.)  Its been here for almost a year and I never knew because I never go to the mall here!  (Its so small!)  And I definitely never go to the food court!  (Its all the way at the top level, and it costs $10-$15 for a plate of food.  Way too expensive for food court food in my opinion!)  But we had to make a special trip for L&L!

Ava and I headed out to the mall and I found myself excited to share one of my fondest childhood activities with her.  I left the stroller in the truck and we did a little shopping in the children's department.  Ava got to walk around and peruse the racks also.  Then we headed up to L&L for a yummy curry katsu mini (half portion).  It did not disappoint!  Sure, I make curry katsu at home, and I could have gotten something that I haven't had since we left the islands, but sometimes it's just nice to have a favorite food and not to have made it.  And oh, to have rice and macaroni salad.  The best.  Ava loved it too.  (She loves curry!)  She got to play on the little stage in the food court area.  She thought she was so big.  I love watching her make other people smile.  She's such a comedian.

On our way out we passed by Payless and I thought we should go in.  I had forgotten all about the shoe aspect of my memory until we were there, in the moment, and Ava found a perfect pair of pink snake-skin ballet slippers.  She loved them and didn't want to take them off.  Ava walked out of the store with them on of course and she is still so in love with them!  Score!

It exists!

Delish!

Playing on the stage.

These had to come home with us!
