We're *all* home! The flight was uneventful because Ava is a professional traveller, and Eddie made it in the next day. We spent Father's Day together as a family, and adjusting back to Alaska has been easy.
And in bloggie world friendship bracelets are everywhere! This could not make me happier as I *love* making forget-me-knots, I mean, constantly people. It's a lifelong affair (along with paper, and crochet). There are excellent tutes everywhere (here is the one I've seen linked everywhere) but none for my most favorite chain to make, I call it a toe-weave. Maybe it's my favorite because it's so quick? It really really is. I pumped out two in about half an hour, and they're probably long enough to be cut down to 4 or 5 separate bracelets. It's a pretty difficult task to take pictures of, but really easy once you get the movement going, so I'll try my best to explain. :)
1. Cut 3 lengths of embroidery floss twice the length of your arm (from finger tips to shoulder). Loop and tie together.
2. Tie a second knot near the first, so you now have a loop to stick your toe through (you could also omit this knot, and secure to a pillow, or your jeans with a safety pin).
3. With palms facing down arrange your loops with one loop on your index finger and middle finger on your left hand, and one loop on your middle finger on your right hand.
4. With your free right hand, index finger, weave over, under, over through the strings on your left hand, grab the loop of your left hand, middle finger, and pull through (now the loop on your right hand, index finger).
5. Pull your hands apart to tighten, and start from your left side now.
6. Move the loop on your left hand, index finger to your left hand, middle finger. Take your (now free) left hand, index finger, and weave over, under, over through the strings on your right hand, grab the loop of your right hand, middle finger, and pull through (now the loop on your left hand, index finger).
7. Pull hands apart to tighten, and continue until your desired length.
Once you get the 3 strings down, it's easy to do 5 or 7 strings too!
I might not be able to stop...
